One of the most anticipated games in PC gaming history sat in an eternity of development without a known release date, up until today. Finally revealed through a Special Traler on the official Spore website is official release date of Maxis’ latest innovation.
Stated simply in the last few seconds of the video is that Spore will be available at retailers worldwide the weekend of September 7, 2008. Spore gives players the ability to create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations, sculpt entire worlds and explore a universe created by other gamers using a variety of tools.
“The wait is almost over,” said Maxis Chief Designer Will Wright. “We're in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can't wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year.”
Wright also sent out a note to subscribers of the Spore newsletters, and promised more information coming soon. “While we finish up the game over the next few months, we'll be sharing more information with you and other fans. As a newsletter subscriber, you'll be among the first to get new Spore information, screenshots, videos and other cool features from the Spore team. Check out our launch date teaser, and of course you can visit Spore.com for updates anytime,” Wright wrote.
Spore will launch for the PC, Macintosh, Nintendo DS and mobile phones. SOURCE
